Vacations and Leaves:
If you are leaving the University of Kansas for a temporary time period (Winter, Spring, Summer Break, personal leave, or Sabbatical) ensure that private KU information in your possession is secured, both physically and technically. Check in with your Chair or Unit Supervisor to ensure they have access to necessary data while you are away. Additionally ensure your unit/department can access information while you are away, if necessary.
Leaving KU for new Locales:
If you are leaving the University of Kansas and the information or data in your possession requires retention (grade books, papers, employment forms, etc.) return the information/record to the Chair or Unit Supervisor’s office for management. Do not purge the information without first checking in with the unit to determine proper procedures. For more information on retention, see the KU Record Retention Schedules and check with your department or unit supervisor.
